Updating mid 2011 imac

Hi

I have the mid 2011 iMac with the i5 2.5 processor. Im looking to get more memory in it to update it a little. It currently has the standard 4gb 2 slots being used. I see the new iMac's are coming with 8gb, what do people think i should upgrade to? Also would i buy 2x2gb or 1 x 4gb etc. Its just being used for light tasks really but keen to keep it upto date being an older model now.

thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

I agree, however iMacs are sensitive to RAM. NEVER put RAM that you buy in a store in an iMac, chances are you will have trouble at some point. Most experienced users on these forums only recommend buying RAM from either Crucial (buy direct) or OWC (www.macsales.com). Considering your location, I would recommend Crucial. Both vendors supply high quality RAM and sell it for a reasonable amount. If you need help installing the RAM, OWC has an install video located at https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/imac_mid_2011_mem/
